A 65 ft. tall model of Gaganyaan launch vehicle (HLMV-III – Human rated Launch Vehicle Mark-III), was unveiled at B.M. Birla Science Centre, Hyderabad, on Thursday.

The model, scaled down to one-third of the original launch vehicle’s size, is designed to be a powerful educational exhibit, offering visitors a close-up appreciation of the engineering complexity and scale of India’s first human spaceflight mission, as per a press note.

The Gaganyaan mission aims to demonstrate India’s capability to launch a crew into Low Earth Orbit and safely return them to earth.

On the day of the inauguration, display boards were placed to explain important components of the launch vehicle and other details.

Nirmala Birla, chairperson of the G P Birla Archaeological Astronomical and Scientific Research Institute (GPBAASRI), unveiled the rocket model in the presence of K. Mruthyunjaya Reddy, director of GPBAASRI. She also unveiled two indigenously manufactured Archimedes Wind Turbines.

The new exhibits – from the ambitious Gaganyaan mission to the commitment to green technology through the Archimedes turbines – are tangible symbols of India’s future in both space and sustainability. They are expected to inspire thousands of young visitors to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and connect them directly to the nation’s innovation legacy, as per the press note.
