Posted on October 14, 2026 By admin

Sivaganga police have detained five persons linked to a double murder case in Sivaganga under the Goondas Act.

Dhevendiran, 25, a resident of Kayaodai Pudukudiiruppu near Kalaiyarkovil in Sivaganga district, ran a bar in Pollachi in Coimbatore district. Having returned to his hometown, he had purchased a new car. On September 16, he and Poopandiyan, 25, from Siruvelangudi, who worked at a private finance company, went to the Kodikkadu Kanmai near Sivaganga in that car.

Later, they sat on the tank bund and consumed liquor. At that time, a gang arrived there and hacked them to death in an alleged case of mistaken identity.

The Sivaganga Town police registered a case and arrested 17 people, including Balamurugan, 24, Dhanaraj, 19, and Santhosh Kumar, 19, from Alupillaithaangi, Kaleeswaran, 22, from Pilloor, and Sathish Kumar, 25, from Maathoor.

Meanwhile, based on the recommendation of Superintendent of Police Abhishek Gupta, District Collector P. Akash ordered the detention of Balamurugan, Dhanaraj, Kaleeswaran, Santhosh Kumar, and Sathish Kumar under the Goondas Act.
