A contract worker of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) was allegedly attacked while he was clearing unauthorised flex banners at FTS Circle in the N.R. Assembly constituency here on October 4 night.
The incident occurred around 10.30 p.m. when Raghu, a contract worker attached to the MCC’s Abhaya team, was reportedly removing “unauthorised” flex banners and publicity materials along with other members of the team.
Raghu sustained stab injuries to his face, chest and arm. He was rushed to K.R. Hospital, where he received several stitches and was initially admitted to the ICU. He is now recovering in a ward.
Two persons have been arrested in connection with the alleged assault.
MCC Commissioner M.K. Savita visited K.R. Hospital and enquired about Raghu’s health.
The incident comes against the backdrop of the MCC’s decision to launch a special drive to remove illegal flex banners and publicity materials from the city ahead of the Mysuru Dasara festivities.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, during his recent visit to Mysuru and a Dasara meeting, had directed the MCC and the city police to ensure that the city was made free of illegal flex banners.
