The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory announcing traffic restrictions and diversions in parts of Central Delhi on Sunday in view of a proposed INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan, with a large gathering expected at the venue. The restrictions will remain in place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and traffic movement on several adjoining roads is likely to be affected.

The advisory lists several diversion points, including Netaji Subhash Marg T-Point, Rajghat, Delhi Gate, ITO A-Point, Ajmeri Gate Red Light, Ranjeet Singh Flyover at Barakhamba Road, Bhavbhuti Marg-DDU Marg Red Light, Jhandewalan Roundabout, Turkman Gate and Mirdard Chowk.

According to the advisory, traffic movement is likely to be affected on BSZ Marg (ITO to Delhi Gate), JLN Marg (Rajghat to Delhi Gate and Guru Nanak Chowk to Ajmeri Gate), Aruna Asaf Ali Road (Ajmeri Gate to Hamdard Chowk, Turkman Gate and Delhi Gate), Minto Road, DGB Road, Ranjeet Singh Flyover towards Turkman Gate, W-Point, Barakhamba Road towards Mandi House Roundabout and Sikandra Road, KG Marg-Firoz Shah Road and Chelmsford Road.

Vehicular movement will also be regulated on stretches from Guru Nanak Chowk to Kamla Market Roundabout, Kamla Market Roundabout to Hamdard Chowk, Hamdard Chowk to Turkman Gate and Turkman Gate to Guru Nanak Chowk. The movement of Delhi Transport Corporation buses will be regulated on BSZ Marg, the entire stretch from Rajghat to JLN Marg, DGB Road and Minto Road, depending on prevailing traffic conditions, the advisory states.

Routes to New Delhi Railway Station

The advisory has suggested alternative routes for passengers travelling to New Delhi Railway Station. Those approaching from the DGB Road side should take Chelmsford Road, the Outer Circle of Connaught Place, Minto Road and Bhavbhuti Marg.

Passengers coming from East Delhi should take ITO, DDU Marg and Bhavbhuti Marg to reach the Ajmeri Gate side of the station.

If DDU Marg is disrupted, commuters can take the alternative route via ITO Red Light, W-Point, Sikandra Road, Connaught Place, Paharganj and Chelmsford Road to reach the railway station.

The advisory also asks commuters to avoid unnecessary travel towards Astha Kunj Park, Nehru Place and adjoining roads during the programme, use alternative routes wherever possible and avoid roadside and unauthorised parking near the venue.

Motorists have also been advised to use public transport, preferably the Metro, follow traffic signs and instructions issued by traffic personnel, and allow additional time for their journeys.
