Amid the claims of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar that “sting operations” were attempted on him and some of his ministerial colleagues by the Opposition, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara said on Friday that the charge was made based on information received from the intelligence.
Asked if the allegation had been brought up to divert attention from the drought, the Deputy Chief Minister told presspersons: We have not ignored any problem and the drought issue has been taken seriously.”
On investigation into the alleged sting operation, Mr. Parameshwara said that the Chief Minister will speak on that. “The Chief Minister knows everything and he has shared as much information as required with us.”
Congress legislator from Mandya Ganija Ravikumar also defended the Chief Minister’s claim, and said that they had proof on the sting operation.
Meanwhile, speculations are rife in party circles over the visit of Ministers Yathindra Siddaramaiah and B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan to Delhi to meet the party’s Central leadership, amid intense discussion within the party on the Chief Minister’s claim of sting operation.
On Friday, ridiculing the Chief Minister’s claim, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in a post called it “a sting against a sting master.” BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra also dared the Chief Minister to reveal the names behind the alleged sting operation.
