Three men allegedly used a suspicious government ID card and forced their way, armed with a firearm, past mall security into Jio World Plaza, BKC, on Monday (September 7, 2026), a day before the PM’s scheduled visit to the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). An FIR has been filed at BKC Police Station under various BNS sections, including impersonation of a public servant and unlawful entry armed with a weapon.

“This incident took place yesterday, and there is no connection between this incident with PM’s visit to Mumbai today. The Crime Branch is conducting further investigation. The weapon is licensed, and two persons have been arrested in this regard,” DCP Crime Branch Raj Tilak Roshan said.

The three accused are Rohan Premal Parekh, 24, Dilip Rajaram Kunde, and Prathamesh Ganesh Bagul. The case was registered against them for using a fake identity card of the Prime Minister’s Office, Government of India, impersonating a high-ranking government official to pressure private security guards of Jio World Plaza, and entering the mall unauthorizedly with a firearm on September 7, 2026 at around 4:50 pm at Jio World Plaza, BKC, Bandra (East), Mumbai.

Preliminary information identifies the main youth accused as 24-year-old Rohan Parekh. Reports indicate that Rohan possessed an ID card claiming affiliation with the Prime Minister’s Office. During the security check, officials suspected the card was fake.

Earlier, a senior police official had said that a 24-year-old man, claiming to be a PMO official, and his armed ‘bodyguard’ had been detained at Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in BKC hours before PM Modi’s event there on Tuesday evening (September 8, 2026).

But police clarified later that the incident had occurred at Jio World Plaza in BKC on Monday (September 7), and had no connection with the prime minister’s event.

Following a complaint by mall officials, the BKC Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections related to ‘impersonating a public servant’ and ‘unlawful entry while armed with a deadly weapon’. Police then traced and arrested all three men.

The Mumbai Crime Branch is conducting a parallel investigation to verify the authenticity of the identity card and ascertain the accused’s exact motive, officials added.
