R. Chandrasekharan, INTUC Kerala State president and former chairman of Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC), and K.A. Ratheesh, former managing director, have filed appeals before the Division Bench of the Kerala High Court against the observations made by a Single Judge against them in a contempt of court petition in connection with the alleged irregularities in the alleged raw cashew import scam.
Mr. Chandrasekharan and Mr. Ratheesh have contended that the Single Bench, which considered the contempt plea, ignored their right to challenge the sanction order to prosecute them in the alleged misappropriation.
The CBI had sought sanction to prosecute Mr. Chandrasekharan and Mr. Ratheesh, who had held key positions in the corporation, during the period in which the alleged scam took place. The State had earlier refused the sanction thrice.
However, the State government issued the sanction order after being pulled up by the Single Judge.
The court is likely to consider the matter on Monday (August 10, 2026).
