Condemning the arrest of opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin, police arrested 584 people who staged blockades at 14 locations in the Sivaganga district.

In Tirupattur, DMK members staged a blockade led by former Minister KR. Periyakaruppan. Similarly, blockades were held in Sivaganga led by Municipal Chairman C.M. Durai Anand and Union Secretaries Muthuramalingam, Jayaraman, and Mandakalai; in Ilaiyangudi led by former MLA Mathiyarasan; and in Kalayarkovil led by Union Secretaries Arokiyasamy, Krishnakumar, and Kennedy.

The blockades took place in Devakottai led by District Youth Wing Organiser Nagani Senthilkumar; in Tiruppuvanam led by District Deputy Secretary Sengaimaran; in Karaikudi led by Corporation Mayor (In-Charge) Gunasekaran; and in Manamadurai led by former Union president Latha.

Mr. Periyakaruppan, speaking to the reporters, said, “Vijay’s government is a government that must be condemned and punished.”

He accused that while all parties in Karnataka act unitedly on the Cauvery water issue, the Tamil Nadu government has acted without consulting all parties, thereby harming the welfare of farmers and the public.
