IT & HRD Minister Nara Lokesh will lay the foundation stone for clean energy projects totalling 800 MW to be established in Anantapur and Kurnool districts by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) with an investment of ₹5,750 crore, at Pattikonda on July 30.

These projects are a 400-MW wind project at Kanekal in Anantapur district (₹3,500 crore) and a 400-MW solar power project at Pattikonda in Kurnool (₹2,250 crore). The objective is to meet the clean energy needs of large-scale industries coming up in the State, according to an official release.

The TPREL project at Pattikonda is being set up on 2,700 acres and the one at Kanekal on 760 acres. Together, these projects will generate employment to about 4,000 people during the construction phase.

It has been stated that the coalition government is committed to transforming Rayalaseema into a Renewable Energy (RE) hub, and the TPREL projects are a major step in that direction, supported under the AP Integrated Clean Energy Policy–2024. Already, large-scale RE projects of ReNew Power and SAEL are in various stages of execution in the region.

The TATA projects heve achieved 800 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) connectivity at Anantapur-II and Kurnool-4 CTUIL substations, which enables the efficient evacuation of renewable power through the national transmission grid.

The TPREL projects will benefit more than 1,100 agricultural families by providing them long-term financial security and steady incomes. The Kanekal project will be developed by TPREL with technical collaboration from Suzlon.
