Water was released from Kodumudiyar Dam on Thursday for cultivation of paddy during the ‘kar’ season in Radhapuram and Nanguneri taluks.
Sub-Collector, Cheranmahadevi, Ayush Gupta and MLAs Reddiyarpatti V. Narayanan of Nanguneri and S.K. Christopher of Radhapuram released the water from the reservoir near Thirukkurungudi.
The 100 cusecs of water to be released from Kodumudiyar Dam in Valliyooraankaal, Padalaiyaarkaal and Aaththukkaal Channels in Radhapuram and Nanuneri taluks till October 31, 2026 will benefit 2,548.94 acres. If the dam receives more water following active precipitation in catchment areas, water will be released in Vadamaliyaan Channel also for benefiting an additional 3,231.97 acres, the officials said.
