The Delhi government will organise the ‘Yamuna Riverfront Cleanliness Campaign 2026’ on June 14 to promote environmental awareness and support efforts to restore the Yamuna, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated on Sunday (June 6, 2026).

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is expected to take part in the campaign, which will focus on cleaning the riverfront and encouraging public participation.

Ms. Gupta stated that the Yamuna is not merely a river but an integral part of Delhi’s cultural, religious and environmental heritage. Protecting it is a shared responsibility of the government and citizens alike.

“Cleanliness drives and awareness programmes will be held simultaneously at major ghats along the riverfront,” stated the statement.

Nearly 500 social, religious, educational and voluntary organisations are expected to participate.

Ms. Gupta stated that cleaning the Yamuna could not be treated as a one-day exercise and called on citizens, youth groups, volunteers and social organisations to join the initiative.

“Only through collective public participation can we realise the vision of a clean, rejuvenated and life-giving Yamuna,” she stated.
