An under-construction warehouse in Kolkata’s Taratala area collapsed on Wednesday (June 24, 2026) afternoon. Several workers are feared to be trapped inside the collapsed structure.

Rescue teams and personnel of the Kolkata Police have reached the spot, and attempts were made to rescue workers trapped under the debris.

According to locals present at the accident site, 50 to 60 workers were working at the site when the accident took place. Rescue teams have started the work of cutting the iron beam and bringing the workers out.

Locals claimed that they heard several workers buried under the debris. Attempts were made to drill a hole through the debris and reach out to the trapped workers.

West Bengal Minister Indranil Khan reached the site of the accident, and rescuing trapped workers was the topmost priority of the State government.

Minister for Municipal Affairs Agnimitra Paul and Kolkata Municipal Corporation Commissioner Smita Pandey also reached the accident site and were supervising rescue operations. Some workers have also been rescued from the accident site.
