MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta has called upon industrialists to make good use of the plots in the Plastic Park coming up in Ganjimutt on the outskirts of Mangaluru.

In a statement released after his visit on Wednesday to the site of the Plastic Park, Capt. Chowta said it was in April 2026 that the KIADB issued notification to start the process of allotment of plots in the park. The Plastic Park will go a long way in heralding economic growth of Coastal Karnataka at the global level. It will generate good employment to the youth. Interested industrialists should make good use of the plots and join hands with the government in development of the region.

The MP said the project, which was initiated by the former Union Minister Late Ananth Kumar, was stalled for a long time because of legal hassles in acquiring 9.33 acres of the 104 acres earmarked for the park. He wrote to KIADB chief engineer to leave the disputed land and come out with revised project scheme by taking into consideration the available land. It was in November 2024 that revised design of CIPET administration building, coming up in the park, was approved and its construction started. All major legal hurdles were resolved in October 2025. The KIADB issued notification in April 2026 for allocation of plots.

He had a detailed review about the road, electricity, water supply and other basic infrastructure for the park. He directed KIADB officials to finish pending work and start commercial operations of the park at the earliest, the MP stated. Mangaluru City North MLA Y. Bharath Shetty accompanied the MP.
