The exercise seeks to link electors through family or progeny data to improve voter roll accuracy.
Karnataka has mapped 4.79 crore electors, or 86.37% of the State’s total 5.55 crore voters, under the ongoing electoral roll family-linkage exercise as of May 14, 2026, according to an official district-wise status report.
The exercise seeks to link electors through family or progeny data to improve voter roll accuracy and identify eligible new voters who have crossed the age threshold.
The report shows that 2.27 crore electors above the prescribed cut-off age have already been mapped directly, accounting for 70.47% of the eligible category. In addition, 2.52 crore progeny records above 18 years have also been linked, taking the overall mapping figure close to 4.8 crore.
Districts with highest mapping
Among districts, Kodagu recorded the highest overall mapping at 95.53%, followed closely by Mandya (95.43%), Ballari (95.19%), Chamarajanagar (95%), and Chitradurga (94.95%).
Other districts with more than 94% mapping include Bagalkot (94.72%), Koppal (94.81%), and Tumakuru (93.62%), indicating strong field-level verification in several rural regions.
Election officials said districts with better local coordination and faster Booth Level Officer (BLO) verification appeared to have progressed more quickly.
GBA areas lag behind
The report shows that Bengaluru continues to lag the State average, particularly within GBA limits.
Among the three GBA zones, South recorded 64.60%, Central 64.90% and North 67.32% – the lowest figures in the State. Bengaluru Urban stood at 75.10%, while Bengaluru Rural recorded 85.58%.
Officials indicated that dense urban populations, high migration, apartment clusters and difficulties in physical verification often slow such exercises in metropolitan areas.
Among larger districts, Kalaburagi recorded 90.81%, Belagavi 89.74%, Hassan 89.63%, Mysuru 87.88% and Dakshina Kannada 86.39%.
V. Anbu Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, said the mapping of remaining electors will continue. “Mapping is an ongoing process and will continue up to two days before the draft roll is published,” he said.
