Three children have been killed and two others injured in an explosion outside their house in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said.

The explosion occurred late on Wednesday (May 6) in the Ghwa Khwa area of Lower South Waziristan bordering Afghanistan when explosive material planted in a motorcycle detonated.

Police said the motorcycle had allegedly been parked outside the house of a man named Saddam Hussain by an unidentified individual shortly before the blast.

The deceased were identified as Shah Hussain, 15, Sanaya Bibi, 7, and Soreen Bibi, 8.

The injured children were shifted to Headquarters Hospital Wana. The police and security forces cordoned off the area and launched an investigation.

Residents expressed sorrow and anger over the incident, calling the killing of innocent children a tragic act and demanding immediate action against those responsible.

Locals said militants once again targeted unarmed and innocent civilians in the region.
