AAP MLA files defamation plaint against PWD  Minister

Posted on October 1, 2026 By admin

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Jarnail Singh on Thursday filed a defamation case against Water and PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh over “false” allegations that the former demanded money from Public Works Department (PWD) officials and a contractor.

Mr. Jarnail said he had filed a complaint against the Minister with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) about an alleged corruption in the construction of a road. “For the last four days, in an attempt to defame me, the Minister has been putting pressure on department officials and the contractor at different times to claim that I demanded money from them,” Mr. Jarnail said.

“If the Minister has even a little shame and accepts that he was wrong to slap the young man, lose his temper after seeing the corruption and unlawfully defame me, he should apologise within the next seven days. Otherwise, legal action will be taken further,” he added.

On Wednesday, AAP filed a complaint with the ACB regarding the alleged corruption in the ₹23 crore tender of the PWD Department “involving” the Minister. On Sunday, Mr. Parvesh Sahib allegedly slapped an aide of Mr. Jarnail during an inspection of a newly laid road on the Vikaspuri section of the Outer Ring Road. AAP had alleged corruption in the construction of the road leading to its poor quality.
