Thirty-one people were hospitalised with complaints of vomiting and diarrhoea due to suspected food poisoning after eating at a wedding feast in Mumbai on Sunday (November 1, 2026). The bride and the groom were also taken ill.

Police have registered a case against Mulsingh Harisingh Rajpurohit, the owner of the catering agency, Kalash Caterers, and his staff under Sections 274, 275, 125, 125(a), 286, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and Section 59 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The Maharashtra food safety body, led by Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, was alerted after the guests, including four children, fell ill.

Bhandup Police said at least 500 people attended the wedding, and guests who ate towards the end of the party developed symptoms of food poisoning.

DCP East-3 Abhaysingh Deshmukh said 27 people were taken to MT Agarwal Municipal General Hospital, four children to Kamgar Hospital, and five people to a hospital in Vikhroli. The FDA has collected food samples.

Kailash Marskole, medical officer at MT Agarwal Municipal General Hospital, said 27 patients were admitted there: two children, 11 women, and 14 men. They arrived at 11.40 p.m. with complaints of vomiting, diarrhoea, and weakness, and are under treatment.
