10 sovereigns of gold jewellery, ₹30,000 stolen from house near Sathyamangalam

Posted on October 30, 2026 By admin

Burglars broke into a house at S.R.T. Garden on Koothanur Road near Sathyamangalam and stole 10 sovereigns and ₹30,000 in cash on Thursday (October 29) night.

The house belongs to Selvam alias Palanisamy (56), who is engaged in agriculture at Gundlupet in Karnataka. He and his wife Sumathi had recently opened a pottery shop near the old bus stand in Sathyamangalam.

The theft came to light when the couple returned home after being away and found the bureau broke open. Gold chains and bangles weighing 10 sovereigns, along with ₹30,000 in cash, were missing.

A preliminary police inquiry revealed that the burglars had forced open the rear door with an iron rod, entered the house and broke the bureau. A police team is examining CCTV camera footage from the neighbourhood. A fingerprint expert team visited the spot and collected evidence. A sniffer dog was also pressed into service.
