The Kanathur police registered a case of abetment to suicide in connection with the death of social media influencer Harish.
A senior official of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate said Harish, who had gained popularity on Instagram and YouTube by providing financial advice, ended his life on Tuesday.
Harish allegedly took the extreme step after a video defaming him was released by another influencer on YouTube.
