A police spokesman said the security forces, in a joint operation, had “apprehended five terrorist associates in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district”. Arms and ammunition were also recovered.

“Acting on credible input regarding movement of terror associates, an operation was launched at Khrewan Chadder, Kulgam and five individuals were arrested,” the police said, adding that two pistols, three magazines, 40 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, and three grenades were recovered.

Forest hideout destroyed

In north Kashmir, the police along with the Army conducted a joint search operation in the forest area of Nagda Nar in Handwara. “During the search operation, the joint party detected and destroyed an old hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the hideout,” the police said.

The recoveries included one AK-47 rifle, three grenades, 857 AK rounds, 192 PIKA rounds, eight AK magazines, one silencer, 83 pistol rounds, and other incriminating material, the police said.
