Telangana Assembly session LIVE Sept 16: Telangana CM says 98.31 lakh acres have to be in prohibited (properties) list

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy speaking in the Assembly on Wednesday (September 16, 2026)

The monsoon session of the Telangana Assembly will resume on Wednesday (September 16, 2016), after being adjourned for three days from Sunday (September 13, 2016). The short discussion on the issues related to Section 22A of Registrations Act continued in the House.

Besides K. Sambasiva Rao, other MLAs who spoke on the issues pertaining to Section22A of Registrations Act were Vemula Veeresham, Naini Rajender Reddy, K Shanakaraiah, Naveen Yadav, Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala and others. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy begun speaking on the issues in the afternoon.

The Chief Minister listed the extent of lands under various sub-sections of Section 22A, including assignment lands (24,63,940 acres); forest lands (around 42 lakh acres); State and Central government lands (around 29 lakh acres); lands under endowments and waqf (around 5.12 lakh acres); lands attached by various law enforcement agencies such as ED, CBI. All of this totals 98,31,320 acres.

Mr. Reddy said that nearly 98,31,320 acres have to be in the prohibited (properties) list. Not even an inch can be removed from the list. If done, it amounts to injustice to people and giving a chance to encroach forest lands, he said.

The dispute between the government and private entities is pertaining to 3,72,930 acres of private land. However, it is being claimed that one crore acres is under the prohibited properties list, he said.

A short discussion on the effects of El Niño and remedial measures too is scheduled for today.

The subjects on which questions may be asked in the House include career guidance cells for minority students, improvement of public transport in the CURE region and expansion of horticulture crops in the State.
