Three people were arrested for the alleged assault and robbery of an expatriate youth near the Aluva railway station. The arrested are Sanal Chandran, 38, of Manjapetti, Sajadh Shahjahan, 25, of Pallikkal, Thiruvananthapuram, and Joby, 44, of Nedumbassery. The alleged incident took place around 3.30 a.m. on September 13.
The arrests were made by a special investigation team led by Aluva Deputy Superintendent of Police Baiju Paulose.
While Chandran was arrested from Perumbavoor, Joby and Shajahan were nabbed from Angamaly and near the Ernakulam North railway station respectively, according to the police.
Chandran and Shajahan have around six cases registered against them at various police stations in the State.
The police launched a probe after Jofin Jiju, 28, of Kodanad, was allegedly assaulted and robbed by a group of men when he was walking on the road near the goods platform in the early hours of Sunday.
The accused were booked for voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons and robbery.
