An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the Navi Mumbai Police Department’s Special Branch was found dead at a lodge in Rabale, Navi Mumbai, on Saturday (September 5) evening, according to police.

ASI Pandurang Nimba Patil allegedly left behind a note and a video on social media, accusing a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), the Wireless Assistant Commissioner of Police, and a head clerk of harassment and causing mental distress.

In the video, he appealed to Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe to ensure that he received justice for the alleged harassment, and also claimed in the note that certain officials and colleagues drove him to take the extreme step by allegedly harassing him.

Senior PI Devidas Kathale said, “Police are investigating the claims and conducting a forensic investigation as well to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident and the allegations made in the note and video.”

Further details are awaited.

Assistance for overcoming suicidal thoughts is available on the Tele-MANAS 14416 and Sneha’s suicide prevention helpline 044-24640050.
