Man killed, two injured in knife attack in Manali

Man killed, two injured in knife attack in Manali

Posted on September 7, 2026 By admin

A 35-year-old daily wage labourer was stabbed to death and two others were injured following an altercation near a Tasmac outlet on Chinnamanur Road in Manali on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as N. Ramaraj (35) of CPCL Nagar, Vaikkadu, Manali. The injured, B. Raja (52) of Church Street and V.Perumal (43) of Raghavan Street, are undergoing treatment at Government Stanley Medical College Hospital.

Police said the three men, who were friends, were consuming alcohol outside the TASMAC outlet when Y.Murali (35), a painter, and R. Loganathan alias Pattu (32) arrived there armed with kitchen knives.

According to police sources , Murali and Loganathan had a dispute with Ramaraj’s friend, Gnanam, following an argument over a traditional board game. The duo came to the spot looking for Gnanam. As he was not there, they allegedly questioned Ramaraj and his friends about his whereabouts, leading to an argument.

During the altercation, the accused allegedly attacked the three men with knives. Ramaraj suffered severe injuries and died, while Raja and Perumal sustained injuries.

Police recovered Ramaraj’s body and sent it to Government Stanley Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Murali and Loganathan were arrested on Monday and booked under murder-related sections.

Police said both accused have previous criminal cases, including those involving wrongful restraint, public obscenity, causing hurt with dangerous weapons and criminal intimidation. Further investigation is under way.
