Make Delhi ‘Deregulation Capital’, investors urge CM at startup meet

Make Delhi ‘Deregulation Capital’, investors urge CM at startup meet

Posted on September 6, 2026 By admin

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday held a dialogue with leading entrepreneurs and investors on the Delhi Startup & Incubation Policy 2026, aiming to support over 10,000 startups and generate more than 4 lakh jobs.

The meeting was organised by the Department of Training & Technical Education, Government of Delhi, to obtain direct inputs and suggestions from the industry and startup community to further strengthen the policy and build a robust, dynamic and entrepreneurial ecosystem in the national capital.

During the interaction, industry representatives suggested that the State government should become the first major customer for startups. They also urged the State to develop public AI infrastructure and data sandboxes for deep-tech and GovTech companies.

A statement from the CMO said: “Representatives from the industry and startup ecosystem suggested that considering Delhi’s existing strengths and capabilities, the city should work towards becoming the country’s ‘Deregulation Capital’ by enhancing the availability of land and workspaces for startups, rationalise FAR and circle rates, and create a more conducive business environment.”

Responding to the suggestions, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to make Delhi India’s startup and innovation capital, adding that Delhi has talented youth, strong educational institutions, technological capabilities, a large market, and the presence of leading industries, making it a natural hub for startups and innovation.

Ms. Gupta said that under the Delhi Startup & Incubation Policy, 2026, the Government is undertaking concrete initiatives to provide necessary support and opportunities to startups, including the establishment of incubation centres in colleges of Delhi University and schools. “The government’s objective is to create an enabling and supportive environment where young people receive encouragement for their ideas, innovation gets the right platform, entrepreneurs receive the necessary support, and startups generate new employment and economic opportunities,” the CM said.
