Youth held on charge of murdering his parents in Brahmavar

Posted on August 24, 2026 By admin

A youth allegedly murdered his parents following an argument with them at Gandhinagar in Brahmavar of Udupi district on Sunday. The police went to the house on Monday morning and arrested the youth.

The police gave name of the accused as Shahid Ali, a food delivery executive. His father, Mehaboob Ali, worked as a lorry driver, and his mother Shamsheeda Begum was a homemaker.

Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar said Shahid Ali appears to have first hit his father with a sharp weapon and murdered him in a room. Shamseeda Begam was found dead in the bedroom. “Shahid Ali stayed with the bodies the whole night and dialled 112 to inform the police,” Mr. Shankar told reporters.

On inquiry, Shahid Ali told the police that he was frustrated with the taunts of his father for not earning well and not marrying. The police are verifying this claim. The police are also looking at whether Shahid Ali was addicted to gaming.
