A streetside food stall at Vyttila was ordered shut on Tuesday as part of a food safety drive by the Health department, Food Safety wing, Health division of the Kochi Corporation, and the police. Checks were conducted at 10 outlets in Vyttila.

Drinking water samples were collected from six shops and sent for testing. Fines amounting to ₹14,500 were imposed on three shops for alleged violations.

District Medical Officer R. Shahirsha said that all establishments involved in the preparation and handling of food and beverages should strictly adhere to the health guidelines.

Inspections will be intensified at hotels, roadside eateries, and food stalls during the Onam season, according to a communication.
