Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Sunday afternoon, wound up his two-day visit to Puducherry after participating in official programmes, one-on-one meetings with Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Puducherry Home Minister A. Namassivayam, and events organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

After participating in the presentation of President’s Police Colour to the Puducherry Police at the Police Training School ground at Gorimedu around 10.15 a.m, the Home Minister returned to Lok Niwas where he was staying.

Sources said that at Lok Niwas, he had a few engagements, including meetings with Mr. Kailashnathan and Mr. Namassivayam. After the engagements at Lok Niwas, he flagged off the Har Ghar Tiranga programme, an initiative of the Central government to promote a sense of nationalism ahead of Independence Day celebrations, at Rajiv Gandhi Square.

He also had a closed-door interaction with BJP workers. He asked the workers to carefully counter the false narratives being spread by the Opposition parties against the Central government, sources said.

He left Puducherry around 2.30 p.m after attending a lunch hosted by the Chief Minister at a hotel near the Rajiv Gandhi signal. “Before the lunch, the Chief Minister had a brief meeting with Mr. Shah,” a source said.  He was seen off at the Puducherry Airport by Mr. Kailashnathan, Mr. Rangasamy, Mr. Namassivayam, and senior officials.
