Youth murdered in clash in Coimbatore

Youth murdered in clash in Coimbatore

Posted on August 4, 2026 By admin

A 25-year-old youth was stabbed to death in a brawl at Udayampalayam near Peelamedu in Coimbatore late on Monday.

Naveen, a native of Chennai, who had completed his degree at a private college in Peelamedu, was murdered.

Naveen had been staying with his friends in a rented house at Ashok Nagar near Udayampalayam while searching for jobs.

The police said that Naveen and his friends consumed liquor in their neighbourhood late on Monday. An argument broke out between the group and a few local youths. As the altercation escalated, the armed gang allegedly assaulted Naveen and his friends, said the police.

Though Naveen tried to escape from the assailants, they chased him down and stabbed him repeatedly. He died at the spot.

Residents alleged that law-and-order situation has deteriorated in Peelamedu and surrounding areas, resulting in a rise in instances of anti-social activities, brawls, and drug peddling.

The police claimed that they have apprehended a few suspects in connection with the murder.
