Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, which entered the electric vehicles (EV) segments last year, has exported as many as 15,210 EV units in April-June (Q1) quarter FY27, commanding a 97% share in total EV shipments from the country.

The EV market, which is dominated by Tata Motors and Mahindra, registered total exports of 15,641 units in the review period, as per available industry data.

The company, which is the market leader in the passenger vehicles (PV) segment, had in August 2025 introduced e Vitara and since then, more than 41,000 units have been exported to 47 countries with the U.K. being the top destination.

“It is India’s pride that Maruti Suzuki’s BEV — the e Vitara — has emerged as the country’s third largest exported model [after Fronx and Jimny]. The e Vitara is now being exported to 47 countries including U.K., Germany, Japan, Norway, and Switzerland as top few destinations. It stands as a symbol of the success of hi-tech Indian manufacturing on the global stage” said Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.

Highlighting that Maruti Suzuki is taking a “calibrated approach” to rollout EV in the domestic market, he said it will expand distribution in tandem with the growth of the country’s charging infrastructure.
