Man held for secretly photographing women in Washermenpet

Posted on July 8, 2026 By admin

The Washermanpet Police arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly photographing women without their knowledge and storing them on memory card.

According to the police, the case came to light after Abhishek, 31, an autorickshaw driver from Old Washermenpet, lodged a complaint. On Tuesday, while returning home in his autorickshaw, he found his acquaintance, Ernest Paul, standing in his way. When Abhishek asked him to move aside, Ernest Paul allegedly abused him and threatened to photograph the women living in his street.

Suspecting foul play, Abhishek confronted him and recovered a memory card from his pocket, after which the latter allegedly tried to flee. On checking its contents, he allegedly found several photographs of women taken in an objectionable manner.

Based on a complaint, the police arrested Ernest Paul, 29, a resident of Pensioners Lane in Tondiarpet and the memory card was seized as evidence. The accused was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
