The Delhi government on Saturday transferred 52 finance officers who had been posted at the same place for five years or more in the Finance and Accounts Department, stating that the move is aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and good governance.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the reshuffle includes 23 Deputy Controllers of Accounts and 29 Senior Accounts Officers, carried out on the directions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The government has also promoted 19 Senior Accounts Officers as Deputy Controllers of Accounts, citing their performance and assigning them responsibilities in financial management across departments.
Ms. Gupta said the transfers and promotions had been carried out on administrative grounds to promote integrity and transparency.
“The government’s objective is to establish an administrative system that meets the highest standards of transparency, accountability, efficiency and good governance. There is no place for laxity, negligence or corruption at any level,” she said.
The government has directed all 71 officers, including those transferred and promoted, to take charge of their new postings immediately.
Describing the exercise as a major administrative reshuffle, Ms. Gupta said it reflects the government’s commitment to creating a more accountable, result-oriented and public-centric work culture.
“Timely decision-making, effective financial management and accountable administration will accelerate the implementation of government schemes and ensure that public services are delivered in a more transparent and efficient manner,” she said.
