In a search conducted all night long by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) officials at the Ramanathapuram Municipal Office, ₹3.66 lakh was seized.
Further, an investigation is under way regarding a UPI digital transaction transfer of ₹25 lakh found in the account of a Revenue Inspector.
On Friday evening, a team led by Ramanathapuram DVAC police DSP Ramachandran conducted a surprise raid at the municipal office located on Vandikara Street in Ramanathapuram.
The search continued untill Saturday morning.
In this, unaccounted cash of ₹3.66 lakh was seized from the officials. Further, the UPI digital cash transactions of the officers and staff were scrutinised.
During this, it was discovered that a suspicious money transaction of up to ₹25 lakh had taken place in the bank account of a Revenue Inspector named Karthikeyan, in the last three years alone.
DVAC officials are conducting an investigation regarding the source of the seized unaccounted cash and the suspicious digital transactions.
