Pulse Polio immunisation drive in Mayiladuthurai on June 28

Posted on June 25, 2026 By admin

The Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation drive in Mayiladuthurai district will be held on June 28 when children below the age of five will be administered polio drops. The camps are to be held at 582 centres, including government hospitals, all primary health centres, sub health centres, noon meal centres, schools, bus terminals, and railway stations.  A total of 66,636 children aged below five are to be administered polio drops on that day.

A total of 2,332 volunteers and staff, including those from the health, revenue and education departments, besides those from the self-help groups and service organisations will be involved in the exercise throughout the district. The camps will function from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Arrangements have been made for the formation of mobile teams to ensure that children of migrant workers and children of those staying in temporary shelters along roadsides, bus stands, and railway stations are not left out. The main objective of the drive is that no child below the age of five in the district is left out. In a press release here, the Mayiladuthurai Collector H.S. Srikanth appealed to the general public to bring their children to the camps.
