Saksham, Rishabh steer Murshidabad Kings to victory

Saksham, Rishabh steer Murshidabad Kings to victory

Posted on June 12, 2026 By admin

Saksham Chaudhary and Rishabh Chaudhary’s half-centuries and Toufik Uddin Mondal’s all-round performance enabled Murshidabad Kings to beat Rashmi Nes Medinipur Wizards by 28 runs via DLS method and record its first win in the Bengal T20 League at the Eden Gardens here on Friday.

Kings posted a formidable 201 for five. Wizards were at 95 for five in 11.5 overs when rain interrupted and the result was decided by the DLS method.

Kings began watchfully before gathering runs briskly. The left-and-right combination of Saksham (50, 37b, 4×4, 2×6) and Rishabh (71, 49b, 8×4, 2×6) put up BTL’s highest opening partnership, worth 127 runs, to lay a solid foundation.

Rishabh, who was more aggressive of the two, collected boundaries on both sides and hoisted left-arm spinner Shreyan Chakraborty for two consecutive sixes.

Saksham, who hit pacer Subham Sarkar for a four and two successive sixes, showed his range while complementing Rishabh.

Later, Toufik’s cameo (37, 17b, 2×4, 4×6) helped Kings become the second team to go past 200.

Opening the bowling, young pacer Toufik scalped Aishik Patel inside the PowerPlay. He removed two set batters, Vivek Singh and Priyanshu Srivastava, in the 10th over to derail Wizards’ chase.

The scores: Men: Murshidabad Kings 201/5 in 20 overs (Saksham Chaudhary 50, Rishabh Chaudhary 71, Toufik Uddin Mondal 37, Debopratim Halder 2/40) bt Rashmi Nes Medinipur Wizards 95/5 in 11.5 overs (Priyanshu Srivastava 32, Toufik Uddin Mondal 3/28) (Revised target: 124 in 11.5 overs).

On Thursday: Novus Royals Purulia vs Shrachi Rarh Tigers (Match abandoned due to rain).

Women: Murshidabad Kueens 114/6 in 20 overs (Jahnabi Paswan 27, Prativa Mandi 2/19, Snigdha Bag 2/17) lost to Sobisco Smashers Malda 115/4 in 18.5 overs (Saika Ishaque 26, Mamta Kisku 25 n.o., Parama Mondal 32 n.o., Sushmita Paul 2/24); Novus Royals Purulia 78/7 in 20 overs (Dhara Gujjar 36, Bidisha Dey 3/6, Rupal Tiwari 2/21, Piyali Ghosh 2/9) lost to Shrachi Rarh Tigers 83/3 in 12 overs (Sasthi Mandal 41 n.o., Radhika Kumari 2/15).
