A total of 650 counsellors and laboratory technicians working under the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS) are yet to receive their salaries for May.
In a letter, the Tamil Nadu AIDS Control All Employees Welfare Association urged the Chief Minister, Health Minister, and senior officials to take measures to immediately pay the salaries for laboratory technicians and counsellors working in Primary Health Centres.
The staff were experiencing financial hardships, including difficulties in paying house rent, covering their children’s educational expenses, meeting loan installments, and managing transportation costs, the association’s president M. Jayanthi and general secretary M. Cheralathan said.
In fact, this was not the first time that the salary has been delayed. The payment was delayed by nearly 10 days for the month of April, they added.
