Summer Games showcase reveals a plethora of delightful, digital adventures

Posted on June 13, 2026 By admin

Playstation had their biggest ever State of Play recently with a mighty new God of War reveal, while Geoff Keighly’s Summer Games Fest was a two-hour extravaganza with a lot of excellent game reveals. At the rate Microsoft has been shuttering their studios, it is a wonder they had anything to show at their showcase, but it seems they did, along with several other smaller game showcases.

We watched them all to bring you the best of what is to come, though it seems the launches are slim for 2026, with Grand Theft Auto 6 looming large to dominate the next half of the year.

Gears of War: E-Day

Release: October 6, 2026, Xbox exclusive

The only game on this list launching this year, is the Gears of War prequel, E-Day, which takes us back in time to see how Marcus and the rest of his squad deal with the appearance of subterranean locusts on the event known as Emergence Day. The trailer follows our beloved buff soldiers through a New York-like setting as they decimate hordes of enemies. Launching this October on Xbox as an exclusive, as well as on PC.

Fable

Release: February 23, 2027

The Xbox Showcase showed off the world of Albion with a star-studded trailer revealing its villain, played by Hayley Atwell as Isabel Hero of Wraithmarsh. Also in the trailer was Natasia Demetriou of What We Do In The Shadows, bringing her signature brand of comedy. Fable looks like it has got the world, the looks, and the combat to be one of the best games of 2027.

Alien Isolation 2

Release: TBD

There has been a revival of aliens in pop culture, starting with the excellent Alien Earth. In a surprising reveal at the Summer Games Fest, the next installment of the survival horror featuring everyone’s favourite drooling xenomorph is in the making. The reveal showed some sort of planet setting this time, instead of the usual spaceship. We cannot wait to scream to this one together.

genAtlas

Release: TBD

It has been 10 years since we got a game from the legend Fumito Ueda, known for Shadow of the Colossus, ICO and The Last Guardian. His latest game genAtlas is set in his trademark eerie, unsettling world, where you play a wandering robot who seems to repair bigger robot husks to beat up other robots. As an Ueda fan, this is one I’m most looking forward to.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation

Release: Spring 2027

Finally, the conclusion to the Final Fantasy 7 remake is almost here. The trailer promises the endgame showdown with big bad Sephiroth and introduces us to the gorgeous open world that can be explored on your airship named the Highwind. The Summer Games Fest gave us a glimpse of Vincent Valentine, a character who sleeps in a coffin and transforms into a beast. Also glimpsed were the deadly kaiju-like monsters known as WEAPONS, which your group of heroes have to deal with first.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin

Release: TBD

This one was a very short montage reveal, but was enough to get the whole audience screaming. One of the best Ninja Turtles comics meets the best action game studios on the planet, Platinum Games. The Last Ronin follows a lone surviving member of the Ninja Turtles, in a grim adventure. This, in the hands of the makers of Nier: Automata, Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, is an absolute match made in heaven.

Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen

Release: 2027

From the bubbly game designer Ikumi Nakamura, comes the fresh Kemuri, a gem that stands out in a sea of sameness. It features yokai, demon hunters who traverse the city in search of the unseen, made visible through a technique called Foxwindow. Revealed were several mechanics that involved demonic possession of some sort. The art style is a standout of the game, featuring a neon 2D meets 3D with some wild character designs, animations and a healthy dose of spiritual parkour.

Crossfire

Release: TBD

From studio That’s No Moon, comes a unique take on the cover shooter, featuring a duo of operatives from different factions, who have to work together. They balance high tech stealth with a kind of adaptive cover that looks quite impressive as one of the main characters remains hidden behind changing terrain heights. They seem to be hunted and are hunting a mysterious enemy that comes across as supernatural rather than human. Cannot wait to find out more in upcoming reveals.

Until Dawn 2

Release: 2027

Coming in with a healthy shade of Far Cry 3, Until Dawn 2 opens like a beach-based reality show with several couples getting together, finding love and realising something evil is hunting them. Until Dawn recently got a superb horror movie and Sony bringing this franchise back as a sequel, is the right move.

Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake

Release: 2027

There is no stopping Capcom and they are bringing out the hits from their old gaming chests, remaking them and making them better. Code Veronica is the next game to get this treatment with the trailer opening in a creepy mansion in Paris and a reveal of our hero Claire Redfield as she searches for her brother, Chris. Code Veronica is set between Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, both of which have been remade by Capcom as well.

Persona 6

Release: TBD

To be honest, the reveal itself was disappointing, with a hacked together video, featuring graves. Though, for fans of the Persona series, the reveal was enough as a statement pointing to the existence of a new game in the making. Each game has a colour associated with it and a theme; Persona 6 was clad in green and featured a theme around death and presumably, the underworld. Cannot wait for more details.

God of War: Laufey

Release: 2027

One of the greatest reveals of this season is undoubtedly God of War: Laufey. We did not just get a trailer, we got a full 20-minute gameplay that was a sight to behold. You play the God of War Kratos’ deceased wife, who we have a funeral for in the beginning of the Norse arc of the game. Laufey makes her way into the afterlife of the gods to find utter chaos as she encounters two different pantheons enslaving other gods. Partnering up with a mysterious sword with talking ribbons and a jelly like cube, she must find her way back to whatever destiny awaits us. Just have a look at the trailer, it is too otherworldly to put into words.
