AICC functionary Suraj Hegde passes away in Bengaluru

All India Congress Committee Secretary and Vice Chairman of Guarantee Implementation Committee in Karnataka Suraj Hegde passed away late on Sunday (June 7, 2026) night due to cardiac arrest.

The young leader had been the vice president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, and in charge of the Indian Youth Congress. Mr. Hegde’s grandfather Chief Minister Late D. Devaraj Urs, a towering OBC leader, was known for his land reforms and bringing out many young leaders among the Backward Classes..

The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, AICC President Mallikarjun M. Kharge, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and KPCC President B. K. Hariprasad were among the many leaders who offered condolences on the death of Mr. Hegde.
