Elections to 17 Maharashtra Council seats on June 18

Posted on May 18, 2026 By admin

The Election Commission of India (EC) on Monday announced that elections to 17 Maharashtra Legislative Council seats, including a byelection, will be held on June 18.

The byelection will be held in Nagpur after Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule vacated the seat following his election to the Assembly in 2024.

“The newly elected members will serve a full six-year term while the Nagpur MLC will serve the remaining term till January 1, 2028,” the EC stated.

The gazette notification for the elections will be issued on May 25. The last date for filing nominations is June 1. Nominations will be scrutinised on June 2 and the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures is June 4. Votes will be counted on June 22.

The elections will be conducted as the term of 16 MLCs, including Prashant Paricharak, Chandubhai V. Patel, Kadam Mohanrao Shripati, Amarnath Anantrao Rajurkar, Dushyant Satish Chaturvedi, Anil Shivajirao Bhosale, Aniket Sunil Tatkare, and Dhas Suresh Ramchandra, will expire soon.
