Thoothukudi Collector Vishu Mahajan on Thursday felicitated the headmasters of schools that achieved a hundred percent pass rate in class XII public examination the district.
A total of 19,095 students registered for class XII public examination in the district, including 8,448 boys and 10,647 girls. Among them 18,568 students have passed the public examination, registering a pass percentage of 97.24%. The district secured sixth position at the State-level.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Mahajan said that students from a total of 207 schools in the district appeared for the examination, of which 92 schools have achieved 100% pass rate.
He added that every teacher must ensure that all 18,568 students who passed are enrolled into higher education.
He noted that 527 students did not clear the examination, including 343 who failed in one subject, 126 in two subjects, 39 in three subjects, nine in four subjects, six in five subjects and four in six subjects.
He directed the teachers and headmasters to contact the failed and absent students and conduct special classes to help them participate in the immediate supplementary examination to be held in June.
Thoothukudi District Chief Educational Officer R. Sangeetha Chinna Rani and other officials were present.
