IPL 2026: Miller in wait-and-watch mode ahead of milestone game

In the midst of his 15th season in the Indian Premier League (IPL), David Miller is one game shy of 150 appearances. It may take the South African batter some time to reach that mark, given that the 36-year-old hasn’t featured in Delhi Capitals’ last two matches. With the team management moving towards two overseas quicks, Miller has had to make way.

“Not being able to play is frustrating as a player. You always want to play every game, but such is the structure of the IPL with only four overseas players. The combination becomes really important for the team,” Miller acknowledged on the eve of DC’s clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

“I’ve been around, this is not my first IPL. To give feedback to the rest of the squad, always be positive and give what I can towards the team remain really important for me. And then just waiting for my opportunity to come again. If it does come, I just want to remain ready and prepare really well,” the southpaw stated.

For Miller as well as the franchise, the 19th edition has been a mixed bag. “When we’ve batted, we’ve lost wickets in clusters. It puts us into positions where we’ve got to rebuild. Then, there are moments where we’ve dropped a couple of catches that potentially could have changed the outcome. We’ve spoken that it’s all of us together. Win or lose, we’re together. There’s no pointing any fingers at all with what we’ve done,” Miller said.
