As Kolkata Knight Riders prepares for a key stretch, Matheesha Pathirana’s availability has emerged as a gripping subplot. The pacer linked up with the squad in Kolkata on April 19 after receiving clearance from Sri Lanka Cricket, but has yet to feature in a game.
Pathirana trained on Saturday (May 2, 2026), raising hopes of his availability against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, bowling coach Tim Southee chose to be tentative about his inclusion, given the mandatory overseas pool shuffle that must follow.
