There is a route alteration in the 18th edition of the TCS World 10K Bengaluru which could result in faster timings.
The run, which will be held here on Sunday, will see World 10K elite and Open 10K runners go around the Ulsoor Lake in full. Last year, due to road construction work, runners only covered a partial portion of the lake, before taking a U-turn.
At a press conference here on Wednesday, race director Hugh Jones said, “One of the key improvements is the return to the full stretch around Ulsoor Lake, which allows us to avoid the U-turns we had last year.
“That helps runners maintain their rhythm and flow, rather than breaking stride. It also makes a difference psychologically. Overall, it’s a more fluid and scenic route this year, which should enhance the experience for all participants.”
Like last year, the run will commence with the World 10K Women (5:30 a.m.), followed by World 10K Men (6:08 a.m.) and Open 10K (6:10 a.m.). The early starts will shield runners, to a large extent, from the harsh summer sun.
The Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground continues to serve as the central venue and finish line.
The popular Open 10K will see 22,189 runners in action (including on-ground and virtual run).
Vivek Jawali, chairman Cardiac Sciences, Fortis Hospitals Bengaluru, and TCS W10K 2026 medical director, stated that a 30-bed medical facility with ICU support will be set up at the venue. Jawali added that 250 medical personnel will be deployed for the run.
