Another Indian-flagged tanker carrying LPG has safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz, the government said in a statement on Saturday (April 4, 2026). Green Sanvi would be the 7th LPG carrier, under the flag of India, to cross the strait and sail towards the country.

“Green Sanvi has safely transited the Strait of Hormuz, carrying 46,650 MT of LPG cargo with 25 seafarers on board,” the statement read, without further details on its final destination.

Data from ship tracking company Marine Traffic’s website confirmed that the Green Sanvi was an Indian-flagged tanker.

New Delhi, the world’s second-largest buyer of liquefied petroleum gas, has managed to secure passage for several Indian-flagged vessels over the past three weeks.

The shipping ministry said 17 Indian-flagged vessels, carrying 460 Indian crew, “remain in the western Persian Gulf region”.

As per ship tracker websites, BW Tyr and BW Elm, two Indian-flagged LPG carriers, crossed the Strait of Hormuz on March 28, 2026.
