S. Chandrabose, ward 34, Congress Councillor of Thoothukudi Corporation has announced that he will resign from all party posts with effect from Saturday (May 9), while continuing to serve as Corporation Councillor.
In his resignation letter, he stated that he had been associated with the party since 1988. He noted that he had served as a Councillor in erstwhile Thoothukudi municipality from 1996 and later in the Corporation. He added that he had been elected Councillor for two terms in alliance with DMK and three terms representing Congress party.
In the letter, he has mentioned that the move was a result of “misguidance” of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the TNCC leadership.
Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Chandrabose said that he has also sent a letter in this regard to Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai.
He noted that he was resigning from all posts in the Congress party except his position as Councillor. He added that the decision was taken in view of the current political situation, particularly with the Congress party joining hands with Tamilga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
