Commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supplies in Telangana are currently meeting only about 20% demand, raising concerns of people involved in the food business and other commercial sectors. But the domestic supply is near-normal. Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday (March 14) said that he wrote to the Centre requesting additional commercial LPG cylinders.

A sharp drop in the commercial LPG deliveries were recorded, from the usual requirement of 23,000 cylinders per day to roughly 6,200 cylinders. The Minister said that the domestic LPG supplies stand at near-normal levels with around 2.15 lakh cylinders delivered per day.

On Friday, a little over 2.37 lakh domestic cylinders were delivered. The usual requirement is 2.5 lakh cylinders per day, as per information from the Civil Supplies department.

Mr. Reddy appealed to the people not to overbook domestic refills and contingency measures were initiated, including 1,740 KL of kerosene as backup. The LPG Distributors Association raised concerns over influx of customers and law and order issues. The Minister assured of all possible help and protection.
