A theatre in Oakville, Canada, which screened Pawan Kalyan-starrer OG reported two violent incidents within 10 days. The Halton Police, in a statement said, Film.ca Cinemas in Oakville was targetted twice — on September 25, and October 2.

Two suspects used a flammable liquid to set fire to the exterior entrance doors of the theatre on September 25, 2025.

🚨 Cowardly Attack Fails: https://t.co/9TNzgavfeD Cinemas Remains Open and United 🚨

In the early hours of September 25, https://t.co/9TNzgavfeD Cinemas was the target of an attempted arson. Thankfully, no one was on site, and our theatre remains fully open and safe for guests.… pic.twitter.com/OL6BpkzOH7

“The fire remained contained to the exterior with moderate damage sustained. Fortunately, no staff or guests were on site at the time, and the theatre remains fully open to the public,” Ashley Drysdale, Communications Manager of Film.Ca Cinemas, said in a statement.

A separate targeted shooting incident occurred at the same theatre on Thursday (October 2, 2025). A man armed with a handgun approached the front entrance of the theatre and fired multiple rounds through the entrance doors of the theatre, said the statement.

The official noted that both incidents occurred during the overnight hours while the theatre was closed for business and no injuries were reported.

Among the current screenings in theatre is They Call Him OG, a Telugu film starring Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

“While the motive for the attack remains under investigation, the cinema acknowledges past challenges tied to Indian film screenings but cannot confirm a direct connection at this time,” Film.Ca Cinemas noted in the statement. While other international movies remain to be available for screening, the Telugu film has been removed.

Despite the incidents, Film.Ca Cinemas informed that it remains fully open to the public. “We will not be intimidated by cowardly acts of violence,” Jeff Knoll, CEO of Film.Ca Cinemas said in a statement on September 25. “Our theatre is a place for families, friends, and the community to come together. We are open, we are strong, and we will continue to provide a safe and welcoming space for everyone.”

The Halton Regional Police is currently investigating the case.
