The 17th edition of the Tirupati Book Festival got off to a traditional and colourful start at the Vinayaka Nagar grounds in Tirupati on Saturday (February 1, 2025).

Eminent jurist Justice B.N. Srikrishna formally declared the festival open in the presence of SVIMS Vice Chancellor and Director Dr. R.V. Kumar, Ramakrishna Mission Tirupati Ashrama Secretary Swami Sukritananda and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan honorary Director N. Satyanarayana Raju.

The event got a cultural touch earlier, when a set of holy books such as Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavadgita, Viveka Choodamani were physically carried in a flower bedecked palanquin by readers to the venue.

Describing education as having the power to impart noble and virtuous qualities like discipline, Justice Srikrishna spoke on the need to promote reading habit among the younger generation.

The festival features stalls by numerous publication houses from across the country, with books ranging from science and technology, literature, astronomy, economy, Veda, music etc.
