Kerala man arrested for sexually harassing girl on Karnataka bus

Kerala man arrested for sexually harassing girl on Karnataka bus

Posted on January 7, 2025 By admin

The Nadakkavu police in Kozhikode, Kerala, on Tuesday (January 7, 2025) morning arrested a man on charges of sexually harassing a 19-year-old girl on the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus.

The police said that Mustafa, a resident of Iswaramangalam in Malappuram district, was arrested after the girl lodged a complaint with the police. The incident reportedly occurred on the bus proceeding from Ernakulam to Hassan in Karnataka via Kozhikode before dawn.

Mustafa had boarded the bus from Edappal. He was seated next to the girl and inappropriately touched her, the police said.

The girl raised an alarm and informed the bus staff about the incident.

Mustafa was charged under sections 74 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 75 (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

He will be produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate-IV Court, Kozhikode, later in the day.
