The BJP is embarking on a month-long public service campaign titled Seva Sankalp Abhiyan throughout the country from September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to mark the completion of 25 years of his service as Chief Minister and Prime Minister.

Announcing this at a press conference in Bengaluru on Tuesday, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda said though the party used to organise such service campaign every year, the present one would be special as it marks Mr. Modi’s 25 years of continuous service at the helm of administration.

The first day of the campaign would be declared as seva diwas and lamps would be lit on that night. The campaign would be marked by various activities including cleanliness drives, blood donation and medical camps with the active involvement of BJP workers, he explained.

Every booth will witness a minimum of 10 such service activities and the BJP workers would upload details of such activities on social media, he said.

The campaign would also see Seva Kalash Yatra that would include a bike rally and padayatra to propagate development works taken up by the Centre and the resolve related to Viksit Bharat, he said.

There wlll be conventions of beneficiaries and felicitations to field level workers. A Seva Sindhu campaign will be held to help enrol those who have missed out on various government schemes, Mr. Nadda explained.

The campaign will also see initiatives to link youth and start ups with innovators through regional innovation challenge programmes, he said. While senior BJP leaders will deliver lectures and initiate a dialogue on good governance in different areas of the country, the campaign will conclude on October 17 with an address by the Prime Minister, Mr. Nadda said.

“Before Mr. Modi took over as Prime Minister in 2014, India was among the fragile five economies. But now we are fighting for the third position (among leading economies). This shows the transformation brought under Mr. Modi’s leadership,” Mr. Nadda argued.
